ProSight is looking for an experienced and motivated candidate to join their Data Management team. The ideal candidate will provide expert-level data analysis and reporting utilizing ProSight’s technology stack. The candidate will be responsible for the creation of reports and dashboards that facilitate data analysis within and across multiple areas of the organization.

The BI Developer will be responsible for validating business requirements, identifying and documenting data sources, providing data mappings and rules, defining standards for data and report delivery, and working with project teams to implement solutions. The ideal candidate must be detail-oriented with practical experience in understanding and communicating information. The candidate must be motivated to provide timely results that meet business objectives while working well with other technical disciplines.

The BI Developer will also work with other members of the Data Management team to optimize SQL statements and related data manipulation code, and establish data processing design patterns. The successful candidate will help solve data access and processing issues and come up with ideas and solutions that can help avoid such problems in the future. The candidate must have experience working with a BI Tool (preferably Tableau), strong SQL skills, and experience with other Microsoft technologies (SQL Server, SSIS, and SSRS).

Responsibilities

  • Work directly with end consumers (Billing, Claims, Actuaries, etc.) to understand their reporting requirements and build robust and scalable solutions / BI dashboards
  • Set and enforce reporting standards (naming conventions, standard reporting templates, etc.)
  • Understand available data sources and their relationships
  • Write and optimize SQL statements
  • Attend fact-gathering sessions, analyze and solve problems
  • Develop business-oriented data dictionaries and integrate them into the reporting layer
  • Enforce data governance guidelines and standards
  • Create data visualizations in support of analytical applications that enable users to access and analyze data in the data warehouse, other upstream systems and/or other third-party data sources
  • Profile data to measure quality and integrity, provide solutions to improve quality
  • Ensure performance, security, and availability of databases
  • Implement tools, scripts, queries, or applications for accessing and analyzing data and associated metadata
  • Perform unit and data reconciliation testing as appropriate
  • Prepare documentation and specifications, including data flow and technical specifications
  • Work with Database Administrators to design and adjust relational databases as needed
  • Flexibility to adapt to rapidly changing business environment which will include learning new technologies or approaches (e.g. adapting to new tools and technologies in the AWS landscape)
  • Committed to meeting delivery deadlines
  • Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders
  • Able to self-direct and work under minimal supervision 

Qualifications

  • 5-7 years of experience working with BI Tools (preferably 2-3 years with Tableau)
  • Strong proficiency with SQL and its variations amongst popular databases
  • Ability to debug and optimize large complicated SQL statements
  • Experience with ETL tools (MS SSIS, Talend, Informatica, etc.)
  • Experience with modern relational databases like MS SQL Server 2012
  • Knowledge of best practices for creating reports/dashboards
  • Experience with P&C insurance is strongly preferred
  • Experience working with tools and technologies in the AWS ecosystem a plus (e.g. Amazon Redshift, RDS)
  • Experience creating aesthetic visualizations for senior leaders is a plus
  • Basic understanding of Entity-relationship models (ERM), Dimensional Modeling (Kimball methodology) & Metadata repository technology a plus
  • Basic knowledge of Master Data management concepts and implementation is a plus
  • Has worked in a team-oriented enterprise environment
  • Can multi-task and prioritize requests
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and follow-through in driving consensus across various stakeholders
  • Must be detail-oriented and logical
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Passion to succeed and continually improve skills and exceed customer expectations
